CLUB'S HISTORY

In the year 1911. to be more exact, 1st of september of that year in the pub called „Geneve” which was at the crossing of Aleksandrova and Beogradska streets Belgrade sprt club was founded – BSK, name was suggested by Miloš Ekert and it has been accepted while for the first president and vice-president were named engineer Andra Jović and Danilo Jovanović, who in Serbian football was better known as „Čika Dača“. Players were mostly ex-players od FC Serbian sword and several football enthusiasts.

First official game BSK already played at 26th of October that same year and in it’s premier won the match against Šumadija fork Kragujevac with 8 : 1 ! For history there was written that for the A-team played Stanković, Obućina, Stefanović, Milošević, Todorović, Popović, Veljković, Švaha, Nedić, Kojić i Jovanović.Only a year after it was founded, BSK had it’s own playground thanks to the Dragan Tomašević, winner of the silver medal on the Olimpic games in Stockholm 1912. Playground was on site were now stand hotel „Metropol“ and University of Law.New club was growing fast so very soon there were international games played.

For it’s first international game BSK went with the boat in Zemun in Austro-Hungarian empire and beat Gradjanski with 6 : 1.Shortly after this match new equipment was ordered in Prague and clubs colors were selected by teams best player Mileta Nedić who took blue and white shirts. That colors from those to these days are still clubs mark.

WW I interrupted clubs functioning but the spirit of eternal flame remained so BSK was the first of  Serbian clubs revived by players from BSK’s younger generations. Very soon BSK start to be dominant club in Belgrade and very often it cannot been beaten on the side but most probably the most significant moment in that period was showing Blagoje Moša Marjanović as player in 1925. who wrote clubs and national team history whit golden letters. There is no doubt that Moša was on of the best football aces in 20 century who showed his knowledge like trainer later.Coming of Marjanović was the beginning of creation the most powerful generation of BSK. Arsenijević, Tirnanić, Vujadinović, Glišović, Glazer, Lehner, Božović, Valjarević, Mrkušić, Tomašević i Andrejević with Marajnović as leader won five titles of national championship (1931, 1933, 1935, 1936 and 1939).

Blagoje Moša Marjanović (1907 – 1984) spent in BSK 14 seasons, gave 575 goals, won 4 titles of national champion, for the national team he gave 36 goals and played 57 games and for the Belgrade’s team played 43 games. He is our first player who celebrated “the golden jubilee”. In his career as trainer he won two Cup titles in 1953. and 1955.

WW II again stopped clubs success but youth players survived and carried on with playing until 1943. in occupied Belgrade.Since after WW II people who were in the top of the establishment hated everything that reminded to Belgrade and Belgraders, there was a ban for famous Belgrade sport club.

But, ex-players of BSK, with Sava Marinković and Milorad Arsenijević amongst them, could not stand still and on the 25th of March 1945. a new club was born under the name “Metalac” and for colors were taken blue and white. Back on the road of glory was made when “Metalac” changed it’s name to BSK in 1950. That also was an invitation for great Moša to come back as trainer and already in  1953. BSK won the Cup which was done again in 1955.Unfortunately, battle with the opponent who banned the club once already was lost and in the 1957. the name was changed again. This time in YFC Belgrade.

YFC Belgrade reminded of BSK by name and that proved already in 1962. by winning it’s third Cup and fourth in 1966.Years that come were fulfilled with success both on the national and European scene when remarkable results were made in European Cups but in 1979. YFC Belgrade is abandoning the first league and manage to come back in 1991. to take fourth place in national championship in 1992. and take place in the UEFA Cup. Again, unfortunately those years were too stormy in these lands and YFC Belgrade was disqualified from UEFA Cup.

But in the 2003. we manage to take place in InterToto Cups as in next year, but 2005th and this year we are again playing in the UEFA Cup.
