The years of the new millennium will bring peaks of Europe to OFK Beograd, as before. I am very sure of that.

OFK Beograd is my first club, and the first love is never forgotten. Wherever I played and moved (after OFK), I always remembered the great people and the family atmosphere that was present in the club. Today, OFK is on the right path to return its old glory, and I, from the office of the president of FSB (Belgrade Football Association) sincerely wish the club all the best.

Everything started at Karaburma on that 8th of July 1963, when I made my debut for Red Star against Buducnost (Podgorica). Later, I played many games against OFK Beograd and it was never easy. I really respect this club.

OFK Beograd was always a great club for me. I expect from the people that are in charge of the club now to keep it that way. I sincerely believe that they will do so.

The clubs fait was to be in the shadow of Red Star and Partizan. But this reality did not take away the pride and dignity of the ‘blues’, on the contrary. OFK Beograd is known as a team of romantics, and this is not by accident. In the team’s game throughout generations, the beauty of football was always seen, and its peak was reached by the generation of 1966, in the Yugoslav Cup Final, against Dinamo Zagreb (6-2). Those who did not witness that cup final, missed football skill and beauty at its best. Today’s team, led by the director Zvezdan terzic and Dragoljub bekvalac is an authentic definition of the ‘eternal blues’. They can surprise us in the best possible way, but then disappoint us with a very weird defeat. Maybe this is why the football of the ‘romantics’ is closest to real life.

When I wore the shirt of FC Buducnost, and when I played for Red Star, in the matches against OFK Beograd the winner was always football.

Many unforgettable memories bind me to OFK Beograd, as well as deep friendship and respect of a true friend. I have been a sports rival of many generations of the ‘romantics’, and I have great respect for everything that the boys in blue and white gave to Yugoslav football.

OFK Beograd awakens many great memories for a lot of football-lovers. Personally, I think more about the future. In my opinion, it is the club with the biggest perspective in the region. It is a club that will, with the help of its supporters and friends, become a true contender to Red Star and Partizan in the years to come.

In the new millennium, when we are celebrating 90 years of ‘romantika’ the road to Europe must be achieved.

Your club, which proudly carries the name of our city was, is and will be a club of romantics, a bright tradition, and a unique Belgrade charm. Even though I am a Red Star fan, I look at your club with much respect. I wish you a quick return to the top of Serbian football and much success in the future.

The long tradition of OFK Beograd lasts almost a century in Serbia. Putting it all in one book presented a unique pleasure, travelling through the exciting history of the club. When the book is closed, it becomes clear that the love for the ‘romantics’ is a way of life. Hence, the work on the OFK Beograd book presented such a privilege which most colleagues do not get in their career.
